Join us for our fourth annual Wassail on 11th January 2025!

Itinerary:

6pm Meet at St Mary's Church in Clifford for a torchlit procession to our orchard (5min walk). Limited parking is available here although we ask that you lift share or walk where at all possible. Here's a link to a map.

6:30pm Wassail Ceremony in the orchard. Tom will once again transform into the Green man, and lead us through a spirited blessing of the apple trees culminating in the lighting of the bonfire.

7pm Hot mulled cider will be available to purchase from the bar and we'll be treated to some wonderful folk music. Gather round the fire and enjoy the first steps into the new year, safe in the knowledge that your partaking in our Wassail will ensure a bountiful harvest come the Autumn!

FAQs

Do children need a ticket?

Children under 18yrs can attend the event for free.

Is there parking at the venue?

There is very limited parking at St. Mary's Church (where the Wassail will begin). It is a 5min walk from there to the venue which we will all undertake together by the light of flaming torches.

Please note that due to numbers we cannot offer parking at Artistraw Cider. However, if you are unable to partake in the walk from the Church to the orchard, get in touch with us via email (cider@artistraw.co.uk) and we will do what we can to help.

Can I bring my dog?

We're sorry but we can't allow dogs on this occasion.

What should I bring with me?

Please come wrapped up warm and wearing waterproof footwear or stout boots. The wassail will take place in the orchard and may well be muddy at that time of the year!

Bring a torch if you have one (flaming or otherwise) as the walk back to the church is unlit. Please also bring your singing voice!

What time does the event finish?

The ceremony will be finished by 7pm. The bar (serving both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks) will stay open until around 9:30pm or as long as there are people in need of a hot mulled cider!

Are there toilets at the venue?

There is a lovely clean compost loo at the top of the orchard.

Will there be any food?

We're afraid not but you're welcome to bring along snacks providing all litter is disposed of in the bins/ recycling provided or taken home. We kindly ask that you don't bring your own drinks as we rely on the bar takings to cover the cost of putting on the event.

Why do I need a ticket this year?

To also help cover the cost of the event we have introduced a ticket price of £3 per adult. However, there are a limited number of free tickets to make sure that everybody has the option to attend.

As the event has become more popular each year, we have decided to limit tickets in order to keep our Wassail as magical and intimate as possible. By having fewer people, we're also able to better protect the ground and soil structure in the orchard.

Thanks for understanding and we look forward to welcoming you on the 11th!
